Symtaxify 2.0 is a 24-Hour hackathon which aims at helping developers all the way from beginner to professional levels of experience get a chance to showcase their abilities at solving new and upcoming problems during the ongoing pandemic.

The main focus of the online hackathon will be solutions that target specific problems that have arisen due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The hackathon will be starting from 8th August 2020, 9:00 AM IST and end on 9th August 2020 10:00 AM IST.

There will be a discord server for the participants which they can use to get support, mentorship and important updates throughout the hackathon. Opening and closing ceremonies will be live streamed on our Discord Server.

Participants will go through 2 scrutiny stages including the final stage. Each stage will help check how well the participants are progressing. Participants will have to submit a short video demonstration in the end, along with their hack's description for the judging. It is open to everyone, but the timings will be more suited towards South-Asia region.

Day 1 Schedule (8 Aug 2020):

9:00 AM - 10:00 AM IST: Opening Ceremony

10:00 AM IST Onwards: Hacking Begins

4:00 PM to 5:00 PM IST: First Scrutiny

Day 2 Schedule (9 Aug 2020):

10:00 AM IST: Hacking Ends

1:00 PM IST: Results Announced

Eligibility

  • Participants: Individuals, Teams.
  • Countries: Worldwide.
  • Team Size: Up to 3 members in a Team.

Requirements

  • Every submission must contain a README.md that explains how the program should be executed, any inputs if required and how will the output be generated. Follow steps listed at https://help.devpost.com/hc/en-us/articles/360021748772-How-to-enter-a-submission to understand the submission process.
    • Please ensure that each project contains a README.md file. Verification of the same will also be performed. It should contain the following sections as a bare minimum:
      • A short introduction about the project
      • Installation steps.
      • Steps to perform core functionality of the app (a demo run).
      • Credits.
  • Each Submission must be accompanied by a Link to Video which will comprise of your Demonstration of the Project.
    • The video must not be longer than 3 minutes.
    • The video must contain Name of the project and Names of all the team members in the beginning.
    • The video can be hosted on YouTube, Vimeo or Youku.
  • Submission period will open 3 hours before the end of Hackathon. You can edit your submission after you have submitted before the Submission deadline is reached.
  • A minimum viable version of the app is required in order to for it to count as an eligible submission for any of the prizes.
  • A .zip file of the project with all the required files must be uploaded along with the Submission.
  • The projects submitted must be developed only during the duration of the hackathon and must be newly built.

Judging Criteria

  • Idea formation
    This criterion will focus on how well-formed and well-thought the idea behind the project/submission is. Judges will focus on points that are related to the initial planning before the coding.
  • Feasibility
    This criterion will involve factors that affect the feasibility of the project/submission in various areas such as Technically, Commercially, Legal and Operational Feasibilities.
  • Documentation
    This criterion will focus on various points such as the code readability and overall documentation.
  • Execution
    This criterion will focus on the final submission. Things like coding standards, stability and error handling of the project will be checked.
